Joe American's Response to the tattered stinking rag that is: Rolling Stone

I was in a chat and someone asked what my responses to this article would be... so I took some time to just be real with all this garbage being spewed from the tattered butt-hole that is Rolling Stone. My first retort would be... tough shit you're tired of hearing them. I'm tired of hearing from people that don't own, like or want me to have guns... about why people shouldn't own like or want guns. Shut the fuck up already.

But... sure... point by point.

4 Pro-Gun Arguments We're Sick of Hearing

Thursday's mass shooting is sure to be met with the usual arguments for why we can't do anything about gun control

By Amanda Marcotte October 1, 2015

Another day, another horrible mass shooting. This one was in the small town of Roseburg, Oregon, on the Umpqua Community College campus. More than two dozen people were reportedly hit with gunfire.

Oregon Tragedy 264th Mass Shooting of the Year »

While victims are being rushed to the hospital, many right-wing pundits and politicians are no doubt readying their talking points to explain why the 264th mass shooting of the year does not mean the United States should tighten up access to deadly firearms.

Well, guys, I hate to break it to you, but we heard you the first time. And the second time. And the hundreds of times since that our country has grappled with an individual eager to take out as many lives as possible with a firearm. We can recite your arguments in our sleep, and they haven't grown better through repetition.

1. Guns are a tool. Any tool can be used to kill someone. What you fear is people that are evil. Your problem is not with inanimate objects but rather the intentions of people. Perhaps if assault and fighting were not frowned upon and threatened with jail... people wouldn't bottle up all their shit until it explodes into gun violence. People should be more concerned about how to empathize with individuals, value substance over materialistic things and flip this morally corrupt society on its fucking head. Maybe then you can fathom a world in which people are responsible enough to own guns.

Funny thing, nobody seems to be talking about background checks for military, police and government to own and operate weapons of war or some of the highest offices in the country. Perhaps when your concern is more realistic and genuine... I can start to care about how you hate the argument "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."

2.Well there slick shit... what the fuck have the police and the military been doing for the last 250 years? Using their guns to stop people with guns. Again, why is it that government gets a pass? Are they somehow magically more capable and sane? Record number of civilians oversees being bombed and slaughtered seem to say something different. How about the number of civilians gunned down by government here at home?

Your analysis is shortsighted and borderline retarded. How is it that one can say that a shooting has been stopped if it never occurred because Johnny law or some good ole boy was standing there open carrying? How do we quantify how many people never did something simply because they know they will be shot? Again, your qualm is with the rare few, not the many. Never... I say again... NEVER fucking put the Liberty of the many in jeopardy for the actions of a sick few.

Or if we can go ahead and do that... maybe we should look to the Beltway? Hey, take your pick bub.

3. Yeah buddy... here is where you start to make SOME sense. But of course its shortlived by your narrow dispicable views that are clamoring for what exactly? You don't have any solutions to these qualms... just some super cool rocking and rolling stone tripe because people better than you built a brand name that was once respected. Your rag is going down fast and hard... but let me take some time to address this concern directly.

Mental health is determined by the values of society.  Until we as people can learn to live and let live... and quit bitching about what other people don't like and publicizing it in the news for likes, clicks and ad revenue... things aren't likely to be very different.  I get it... people are PC... and thats fine.  But some folks aren't PC... does that mean that you should be okay with them not being PC?  Whatever... it makes my head hurt just trying to rationalize how this machine that is our country has gone out of its way to demonize and ostracize individuality unless it innovates some useless time sapping device or website.

The core of mental health comes from a community of individuals that are concerned with the well being of their fellowman.  Not cutting him down at every chance.... not telling that person how they aren't with the times or consuming enough.  Fix this shallow society... and I can pretty much gurantee there will be less shootings.  Be realistic about how we humans... part of the fucking animal kingdom... deal with things.  We're the only creature on the planet that believes its okay to fight with weapons of war and a government vote, than on an individual basis to release steam or settle differences.

Don't get it twisted... I'm not saying we should have UFC in the streets... but my god... children fight... people say stupid shit and sometimes people are bent out of shape.  This shouldn't end a career, become viral on social media or be some reason to ostracize folks.  Society is the problem... not the care of Mental health... but like I said.. you started to make sense when you said "There is no reliable way to tell when someone is going to go off like this..." (which you obviously needed someone else to tell you.)  Still... you seem to think that something can be done to prevent it.... by crying and publishing an article on Rolling Stone.

Insert arbitrary link back for clicks and likes.

4.  I really wasn't going to call you a Cunt up to this point... but then you came in waiving your red flags, showing us all that you have mental health issues.  Are you seeing phantoms with guns out to get you when you're at Class, the movies... EVERYWHERE?!?!  Why do you seem to think that your life is so interesting or important that some deranged psychopath would want to get you everywhere you go?  You should really address this... or maybe its just because you're on the rag (the magazine not your period).

The Second Amendment was written by men that saw an obvious need for the citizenry to be equipped with weapons that would allow them to challenge the government in the event that it ran away with its power.  Like... I dunno... spying on every single phone call, e-mail or electronic message, building secret prisons, torturing people and starting wars of aggression while they rob the treasury blind.

Seems like you need to get your Ruby Red Slippers, sweetheart and wake the fuck up.

Finally... I will close by saying, Fuck You.
